Large Parts

 

Injection molded plastic parts with a large shot weight, or shot size, require a large volume of melt delivery from the machine barrel to the cavity. MHS specializes in the design and production of large, high performance molding applications and has developed a range of products that improve the reliability and the quality of the injection mold. Rheo-Pro® hot runner systems for large parts feature manifolds, nozzles and gate openings specifically designed for massive melt flow that keeps the shear rate in the desired range. Pressure drop is minimized by addressing the shear rate and melt viscosity inside the various sections of the manifold channels and the hot runner nozzles. Rheo-Pro® hot runners are built with melt channel of up to 30.0 mm (N30 nozzles) for extremely large plastic parts.

Extreme Hot Runners

Hot runners like the Rheo-Pro® N30 are ideal for injection molding large plastic parts with extremely heavy shot weights (over 5000 grams). With a melt bore of over 30.0 mm diameter (1¼”), the N30 can handle even the biggest of parts including containers, pallets and automotive components. The nozzle features a melt velocity and melt shear rate that ensures minimum melt pressure drop while enabling material to move through the flow bore at optimal speeds.

Sequential Valve Gating

Rheo-Pro® sequential valve gate (SVG) hot runner systems offer precision timing of the individual valve gates opening and closing, enabling accurate control of the melt flow through the nozzle into the cavity. Sequential valve gating helps to control the injection molding process in a number of key areas: balance, flow control and flexibility.

Stack Molds

Instead of increasing the mold size by adding more cavities, stack molds and tandem molds maintain mold size and machine size by adding a second layer of cavities parallel to the first layer. The fill, pack and cooling time remain the same for a stack mold and only the mold open and mold close time will add slightly to the cycle time.

Rheo-Pro® hot halves offer the easiest and most cost-efficient way to integrate the hot runner system into an injection mold. Ready to bolt directly to the cavity plate, MHS hot half systems ship fully assembled, pre-wired and thermally and electrically tested for efficiency and convenience.
